이곡은 O.M.D 곡중에 제가 좋아하는 곡중에 하나이다. 지금 흘러 나오는 곡은 싱글앨범에 수록되어 있는 12인치 버젼으로 정식앨범은 1985년 "Crush" 라는 앨범에 수록되어 발표된다. 

 

Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark 라는 어둠속의 오케스트라 군단(작전)이라는 꽤나 특색 있는 이름으로 줄여서 O.M.D 라고 불려지는 그룹이다. 이들은 우리가 너무나도 많이 알고 있는 비틀즈의 탄생지로 유명한 영국의 리버풀에서 1978년도 결성된다. 

 

어린 시절부터 친구였던 폴 험프리스(Paul Humphreys : 키보드)와 앤디 맥클러스키(Andy McCluskey : 기타, 보컬)는 전자음악을 좋아하던 두사람의 공통적인 마음이 맞았던 것이 계기가 되어 음악인으로서 삶을 시작하게 된다. O.M.D는 일렉트로닉 팝의 역사를 말할때 결코 빼놓을 수 없는 중요한 역활을 담당 했었으며, 초기 음산하고 고딕적인 음악을 구사했던 이들은 독일의 테크노 음악 문화에 비해 엄청나게 미미했던 영국의 테크노 음악을 대중적으로 성공 시킬 수 있다는 확신감을 심어 주었으며 신스 팝의 대표되는 일렉트로닉 팝의 연대기를 시작한 기념비적인 밴드라고 많은 전문가들은 말하고 있다. 그리고 하나 더 말한다면..  아시는 분들은 잘 알고 있겠지만 O.M.D의 멤버중에 한사람인 Andy McCluskey는 영국의 걸 그룹 Atomic Kitten 발굴하여 탄생하게 한 장본인이다.
